Designers.mx

Desigerns.mx marries my two greatest passions in life: music and design. I came upon this site last week and have been ogling/drooling over all of the eye and ear candy this site has to offer. It’s a delightful sensory overload. If you can appreciate a well put together mix and even better designed album artwork, bookmark this page NOW. It was their description that had me hooked from the first sentence:

Mixes created and designed, by designers. Designers.MX is about discovering new music. Music that drives our favorite designers, and allowing them to create a unique cover design for each of their individual playlists. A daily music and design masterpiece.

Jean Tonique

I had to double check to make sure this was a new remix because ”Naive” was released on “Inside In/Inside Out” about 6 years ago now. But it’s new, and it’s funky as hell. Since being released last week, it’s gained a ton of online traction hitting number 1 on HypeM. Can’t get enough of the bridge.

Softwar

Future Classic’s Softwar have mentioned here for creating top notch remixes for the likes of Bag Raiders and Mitzi. Now I’m stoked to introduce their first EP “This Time Around”, filled with deep, disco house vibes. “Taken Liberty” is definitely my favoutire, bolstering a relaxed piano and a hand clap beat.

L’Etranger

French touch specialist L’Etranger released his newest original ”Falling For You” on Valentines Day for all you love birds. But if you guys don’t mind, I’m going to borrow this track probably 100 times today, and tomorrow, and the next…

Lenno

I’m sure Lenno’s sick of hearing the comparison, but if you’re into Madeon, make sure pay attention to this other kid taring up disco dance floors. He premiered his newest St Lucia remix on Gotta Dance Dirty yesterday, and it’s another must hear!

Fabian

Fabian’s “Fireworks” remix chooses to keep Flashlights’ vocals in the spotlight, but replaces the original’s synth heavy focus with a nu-disco inspired piano.

Le Delight Club

Been loving these disco compilations from overseas. Great way to learn about new up and coming producers like Le Crayon. Set and forget for some retro feeling dance music!

AutoReverse

This mix will be on rotation non-stop until the weekend arrives. A HUGE highlight for me drops at 5:20 with Viceroy’s “Goody Two Shoes” remix. I’ve been literally waiting over a year and a half for the official release of that track.

Pelifics + Electric Youth

We can thank Brilliantine Records for this new must hear track from Pelifics, featuring Toronto’s own Electric Youth. “Wish it Could Last” sounds very Drive-esk with it’s heavy bass synths and soft vocals. This track feels authentic in it’s revival of dark, minimalist 80′s synth pop. Check out the rest of Pelifics’ EP “Timeline” on soundcloud.

Ben Browning

If a song could change the seasons, it’d be summer because of Cut Copy bassist Ben Browning’s first solo single “I Can’t Stay”. Make sure you keep an ear out for his first EP “Love Motion”, set for release on March 19th through the band’s own “Cutters” label.

Break out those air bass guitars because this Cosmic Kids’ “Gee Up” remix is groovy as hell.

Keys N Krates

God, I love Toronto. The amount of talent coming out of this city on all genre maps is actually getting rediculous. KnK have been around for ages, and if you haven’t heard any of their mixtapes you better start there (Almost 39 Minutes) (Live Remixing 101). Here’s their most recent live remix, taking on ”Next” by another one of Toronto’s rising stars The Weeknd. The end result is something with heavy bass, marching drums and low frequency synths. If you’re local, make sure you don’t miss them tonight along side infamous Van City skratch dj Grandtheft!
